Time with Jesus
How do you recognize two people in love?
Quite simply: they don't watch the clock when they are together. They enjoy their time together, listen to one another, share their thoughts and hearts — sometimes even without any words at all.
Eucharistic Adoration is something similar. It invites us simply to come to Jesus and to be with Him. We don't have to achieve anything or explain anything. We may give Him our time — and open our heart.
Many people have a surprising experience here: in adoration, everything may have a place. Joy and gratitude, as well as worries, questions and petitions. Everything that moves us, we may lay before Him.
When we become still and linger before the Blessed Sacrament, something very simple and at the same time very profound often happens: a personal encounter with Jesus.
The farmer Louis Chaffangeon from Ars once described this experience in a few words:
“I look at Him and He looks at me.”
In the Eucharistic bread, the Lord is truly present. To linger before Him, to adore Him, means nothing other than letting oneself be looked upon by His presence, letting oneself be touched by His love, and seeing one's own life anew in His light.
In Eucharistic Adoration we step into the gaze of God's love. We may simply be there — before the Lord, who is present and looks upon us with His loving gaze.
